Notice of Financial Incentive
Aladdin's free plan is offered in return for recruiter visibility. This notice explains that offer, as the California Consumer Privacy Act asks.
Last updated: November 2, 2026
The offer
Aladdin offers its free plan, including the job applications that Aladdin fills in and sends for you (free applications), in return for recruiter visibility. Recruiter visibility means that recruiters whom Aladdin has approved, and whom Aladdin may charge for search, can find your blind career card in their searches.
California law calls an offer like this, which ties a free service to the use of personal information, a "financial incentive". This notice explains it before you decide.
The personal information it uses
Your blind career card, which Aladdin builds from your profile:
- professional information: your job titles, how long you held each job, whether it is current, short lines about what you did, your employers as labels such as "Series B fintech, 50-200 people" (or by name, if you choose), your level and years of experience, the roles you want, the pay you want and when you can start;
- education: your degrees and fields of study (school names only if you choose);
- your skills;
- your metro area and country, and whether you want remote work or would move for a job;
- whether you need visa sponsorship: yes, no or not stated;
- inferences: the scores, verdicts, reasons and gaps that AI models write about your card for a recruiter's search.
The card never shows your name, contact details, address, photo, links, self-identification answers, age, graduation years, citizenship or nationality. Only after you say yes to a recruiter's intro request does that one recruiter get your full name, email address and, if they are in your profile, your phone number and LinkedIn URL. Section 9 of our Privacy Policy gives the details.
The terms
- While recruiter visibility is on and your card is not paused, your card can appear in searches by approved recruiters.
- Recruiters see your blind card and its AI scores. A recruiter gets your name and contact details only after you say yes to that recruiter's intro request.
- You receive at most 3 intro requests in 7 days, and each request ends after 3 days.
- Your card is always hidden from your current employer, and from every company that you add to your list of companies to hide from.
- You can pause your card, hide your employers' and schools' names, or turn your card off at any time.
- Free applications are subject to a fair-use limit that the app shows you. We may change it with at least 30 days' notice.
- If you turn recruiter visibility off, we may end free applications for your account after giving you notice. Your account and your data stay.
Section 9 of our Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy give the full terms.
How to opt in
Tick the box "Let recruiters find my blind career card" when you create your account. If you already have an account, choose Accept on our one-time recruiter screen, or turn on "Recruiters can find my blind card" in Settings → Recruiters. Opting in is your choice.
How to withdraw
You can withdraw at any time: turn off "Recruiters can find my blind card" in Settings → Recruiters. Your card leaves recruiter search at once, and we delete it, with every copy of it in recruiters' saved chats and searches. If you opt in again, we build a new card. If you only pause your card, it stays out of search, and we keep it until you unpause it or turn it off. Intro requests that you already received stay on your Intros page, and you can still answer them. Withdrawing does not delete your account. To delete your data, delete your account (Settings → Data Management → Delete Account).
What your data is worth: our estimate
In good faith, we estimate the value of your data as the cost of the free service that we give you in return for it. We use this method because a recruiter's search covers many cards at once, and no price is set for one person's card, so the value of one person's data cannot be measured directly.
- Each application that Aladdin fills in and sends for you costs us about $0.05 in AI model and infrastructure costs. This is the average that we measured on real applications in October 2026.
- So each free application that you use is worth about $0.05: $0 in a month in which you use none, and about $10 in a month in which you use a fair-use limit of up to 200 applications.
Our estimate of the value of your data is therefore between $0 and about $10 a month, depending on how many free applications you use. It does not count the other free features of Aladdin.
